Young families and CEFCO

Friends,

Friday was a special day -- a very important day for our Village.

     (1)  It was field day/sports day at our Elementary School.  Principal Lisa Nix and her teachers did an excellent job planning and executing the day.

Parents were every where and having the opportunity to meet them and their children was an honor.  I am certain many of you are far ahead of me and have had the pleasure of meeting them and seeing first-hand what dynamic citizens they are.

Shaking hands with at least 50-60 parents and listening to them, gave a new perspective to our community.  These young families are civic-minded, interested, and willing to do their part.  They just need to be asked and given the opportunity to become involved.  However, many work and cannot attend day activities or early evening meetings.

More than several said, "If some organizations would consider evening meetings, we would attend.  We love Salado and moved here to be a part of the community.  We may not have a lot of time, but we do have some."

Several said, "Thank you for coming.  It is good to know that our city is interested in my family's well being."

The children were special.  Out of the mouths of babes came these comments:

"Are you the mayor?  Well, hello, Mayor."

"What is you name?  Oh.  I saw the movie 'My Dog Skippy."

"Did you go to school?  Which one?  Were you fast like me?"

"I can out run everyone.  Even him."

"I know your name is Connor, but you have another name."
"It is Turbo," said Connor's dad.

The day was hot and humid.  Sweat trickled down your back and appeared on your forehead.
However, it was really a "cool" day with a wonderful group of parents who took a day away from work to be with their children.

What a great families live in our Village.  Get to know them, they are special.

AND TALKING ABOUT FAMILIES:

CEFCO is now a member of the Village Family.  Welcome, neighbor!

              Very respectfully,

Skip  (I have seen the movie "My dog Skippy.  Skippy is better looking and smarter.)
