And the signs go up . . . the cost of sacrifice is counted

Friends,

It is less than a month away before the Aldermen election.  The signs are appearing in the neighborhoods and people are listening and talking.

The Board of Aldermen's plates are not just full, they are running over.  Whether they are working issues such as roads, sewer, development, personnel, annexation, or economics; they are spending long hours week after week after week researching, listening, and planning.  Workshops often go to 9 P.M. or later.  At least 4 Saturdays have been in 4 to 6-hour sessions of Village business.  And, all the Aldermen/Lady have participated in weekend events driving the Chamber Golf Cart, pulling weeds, meeting visitors, or attending dinners.

And, an Aldermen/lady does it for the love of the Village and its citizens.  They get no pay and the only Income Tax write-off falls under the section called "Charitable contributions."  Phone calls come  at all hours of the night with problems that seem unsurmountable.  Yet, they find a solution that works.

The reward that is worth more than money is your smile; your words of appreciation; a completed task that benefits the community.  You see an Aldermen/lady is special.  They want to make a difference and will spend their last ounce of energy to make it happen.

Considering all of this, choose wisely.  There are 4 outstanding citizens running for office.  Listen carefully, ask the hard questions, and look into their character.  You will make the right choice.  You always do.

And the journey continues . . . . and will do so as long as there are those who sacrifice for the sake of others.
