Latest Construction Changes, 18 June, Saturday

Friends,

(1)     Please be patient with the I-35 construction road changes.  At first, it is confusing, but once traveled, it becomes easier.

As we get closer to construction completion, there will be more inconveniences and frustrations.  To complete the work, certain traffic changes, road work, bridge completion, and other "fixes" have to be done.  If not, the frustration will be extended along with the construction completion time.

Best guidance:  when a change is posted or mentioned, take a friendly drive and see what the changes involve.  It is realized that some of these changes occur during work and it is impossible to do so.  Always have a back-up plan that you know will work. And remember: "this too shall pass."

Here is one for this Sunday night, 19 June:

The opening of the FM 2484 northbound exit ramp is planned to occur this coming Sunday night, June 19th.

Here are a few other construction items from TxDoT's leadership:

"It is confirmed sidewalk will be placed along the northbound frontage road from the library to FM 2484.

Safety lighting will be installed as part of the IH 35 contract.   Safety lighting includes:
·         lights under the bridges at Thomas Arnold, Salado Plaza and FM 2484
·         illumination at the frontage road intersections at Thomas Arnold and FM 2484
·         illumination at each exit and entrance ramp

The contractor will construct the gateway sign foundations and install the artwork and letter made available by the Village.    This is in accordance with the executed agreement between the Village and TxDOT in 2013."

The project is coming together and so is completion.

2.  Got that Hound Dog cleaned, dressed, and taught a few tricks?

This is the day -- DOG DAZE IS HERE!!!  STARTS AT 10 A.M. -- AND GOES TO 3 P.M.  FUN!  FUN! FUN!

Casper Hound Dog is excited.  He keeps asking about the special treats and how much they cost.  Also, if any of his friends are going to come.

  1. A few of us would like to know who is feeding you schedule information. By what we see, the work isn't that close to be done. TxDOT seems to be bending over backwards or caving to political pressure to help but by doing so our roadways are less safe.

We see their personal and all the unsafe stupid stuff they do and we listen to their past and many of their present employee's complain about the unskilled workers their managers relish hiring because they work their cheap wages. Now we have to meander in and around their equipment, trucks, and subcontractors, I avoid them at all costs knowing it’s safer for me to go home at night. So now we have to be subjected to even more James Construction Group's reckless safety issues we hear about from their employee’s that their management continually enables along with their inexperienced workers that don't have a clue what they are doing that appears to have recently jumped the border or got fired from some fast food place.

  2. I would agree. Avoid the area at all costs.

Hearing what their employee’s at lunch speak about how PSC enables some guy named Kalin’s psychotic mood disorder to go left unchecked with what they think could be opioid induced psychopathic mood swings. Combine that with them hiring many unqualified low skilled workers because of what their employees say, he only hires people that work cheap. That could explain why we hear so much about their terrible safety record along with what we see where nothing appears to ever get fully completed.

Everything I see is either half ass done or not done at all. Whoever TXDOT is using for their inspection teams should have a field day when it comes to preparing a punch list unless TxDOT is forced under even more political pressure to turn a blind eye thus throwing more of our money away on this company. I hope that isn’t case but one never knows with the politics these days and what they’ve allowed to occur. I see very few Americans working, mostly with what seems to be illegals because they don't speak a lick of English. Combines that with the poor work product, surprised anything shows just how bad it’s become.

  3. I moved to Salado less than a year ago. What a wonderful place. Now, I must say, there are a few issues that seem to defy reason. Obviously one of them is the construction. The next, after losing nearly 1000 dollars to make my place look nice...the deer. And after taking every protective measure with fencing, sprays, and "other", I've lost. The one tree that I did everything for was ravaged. It began as a clipping from a tree that has survived 4 generations. It's my understanding that the invasive deer problem has been discussed but gone unchecked for years. And now the expense gets passed on to the residents? PER DEER!!?? That idea is worth the scat that I step in every 10 feet. The right thing to do is let those who allowed the problem to get worse pay the cost of reducing the deer population.

  4. Thanks for informing about but have you placed the contractor signs there? To tell about construction and sorry signs for inconvenience.
