Friends,
The following is the latest information concerning your Village:
1. Construction:
Last evening, Monday 27 June, an extensive tour and explanation of the construction footprint took place. In bullet format, the following was learned:
a. Completion is on schedule for the end of September. All roads to include the frontage roads and exits will be open to all traffic. The explanation and tour coincide with the completion date barring any un-forseen catastrophe similar to the 2484 bridge last year. It is coming together.
b. The next roads to be open are:
(1) Thursday night the 2484 north exit by Holiday Inn Express will enter the new frontage road. The 4-way stop sign will be moved to accommodate the opening of the frontage road. Disruption should be at a minimum.
(2) Also, Thursday evening, the frontage road going south (toward Austin) will open completely from Thomas Arnold Bridge to the Holland Road Bridge. Traffic will be able to travel on both frontage road lanes.
c. In the next 2-3 weeks, you will see much dirt being removed from the East side of I-35 going north toward Waco between Thomas Arnold Bridge and the new Salado Plaza Bridge. In most places, at least 5 feet of dirt must be removed in preparation of completing this segment of I-35. As you know, heavy construction is currently taking place in this area.
d. The east wall of Salado Plaza Bridge (black plastic and 2X4s extending the air) is extensively being worked. In the days to come, you will see additional shoring done on the wall as it is prepared for completion.
The Salado Plaza and Main Street intersection will remain as it is but there will be extensive construction around it. Please be careful in this area.
e. There are three major areas of construction to be completed by the end of September:
(1) The Salado Plaza Bridge Wall on the East Side and the Salado Plaza Intersection.
(2) The frontage road on the west side from the new Lampasas River frontage road bridges to the Thomas Arnold Bridge. Traffic will not be allowed to travel on the newly completed 2484 Bridge until this frontage road is completed.
(3) The long exit from I-35 to Thomas Arnold. However, the entrance to I-35 South toward Austin from the frontage road in front of CEFCO will be completed in the next month. This will greatly improve the flow of traffic. No longer will a traveler have to cross Thomas Arnold in order to enter I-35 South. It will ease that major intersection.
f. Please be patient, we are almost there.
2. On 7 July, during the regularly scheduled Board of Aldermen meeting, the BOA will consider the contract between Stagecoach Inn and the Village. It is in the final stages and should be ready for signing very soon. Refurbishing of the Stagecoach Inn is on schedule.
3. The Candy Shack has moved into the building across from Stagecoach Inn. The pink balloons outside will welcome you.
There is much happening the Village. Read this blog frequently.
