Your Village in 3 minutes, 5 July 16

1.  Police Department
     Recently, Police Chief Jack Hensley was mentioning what our Policemen do to keep our community and schools safe:

                           1)      The Police Department monitors the weather channels and works closely with the 
Salado ISD Transportation Department to determine the safest route during bad weather.

 

2)      The police Department has placed police radio’s in all Salado school offices in order for the schools to receive firsthand information that could affect students safety.  Likewise, the schools can contact Policemen immediately if suspicious or dangerous activities are occurring within a school.

 

3)      Police Officers have key cards to the school buildings so they have access in the event of an emergency.  When seconds count, having immediate access is imperative.

The Chief is going to frequently write for this Blog informing you of what the Department is doing.

2.  Stagecoach Inn has returned the contract between them and the Village.  The Aldermen/Lady will discuss the contract in their regular monthly meeting this Thursday, 6:30 P.M.  As soon as the contract is agreed upon and signed, refurbishing will begin.  This is an excellent opportunity to hear the plans and know the time lines.

3.   Frequently, Terry McCoy, District Engineer, sends an update on Construction progress and working being done.  Shortly before the 4th, this brief report was received:

Good Morning Everyone!

"Work continues on the northbound mainlanes from the Salado Creek Overpass to FM 2484.  Crews have been working on completing drainage and excavation/embankment in this area with retaining wall work anticipated to begin soon."

Note:  The retaining wall work is the Salado Plaza Bridge where the black plastic covers the side of it.  The rock work will have a Stagecoach and horses like the west side of the bridge.

The Construction Project is on schedule.  Roads will be completed and traffic in place by the end of September.  Clean-up and moving equipment will take about 3 additional weeks.  

The Chamber of Commerce is being asked to plan a day of celebration in October.
